CENTRAL AND LOCAL
OVERSIGHT TEAMS
Each local church in the Fellowship is
substantially autonomous - each Local Leadership Team is charged with
the responsibility for that church, and, under God, they are the ´seat
of authority´ for that church. However, there is a flow of
accountability and addressability both inwards and outwards - the local
leaders are accountable both to their own congregations and also to our
senior team leader, Leslie Thomas, who gives apostolic covering to the
whole fellowship. This is exercised in the context of sharing and
support rather than of directing.
It is our conviction that Biblical
Christianity points to local churches as being the norm. The Fellowship
of The King is seeking to establish local churches throughout our area
that hold to our ethos, vision, values and ´DNA´ but which are, at the
same time, encouraged to develop their own local character, led by a
Local Leadership Team in whose members we have identified both spiritual
maturity and a complementary range of spiritual gifts, ministry skills
and natural, practical talents.
There is also a Central Oversight, which
is not another layer of church government but rather a forum for prayer,
fellowship and mutual encouragement that not only gives the local teams
a connection with each other, but also provides a wider base of
experience and gifting, alongside a less ´parochial´ perspective. This
central oversight consists of Leslie and Chris Thomas and
representatives of the local teams.
